Looking out across the audience on Sunday morning 80% of pastors see three women for every man in attendance. A couple questions often come to mind.
Why ? What is the impact on our congregation/our ministry? What can I do about it? Why In the mid nineties, churches were excited to see the men’s ministry movement. In spite of the many training seminars for men, most churches still struggle to keep their men engaged. Looking back, our men’s ministries were event oriented and their impact lasted only a short time. Impact During this same time various surveys were conducted concerning the health of the American family. One common issue began to emerge. Men weren’t there for their families, for their children. Today across our nation, children go home to a single parent 50 – 60 % of the time. Almost always it’s mom. Our society is less than it could be when dads in such large numbers are not there to help their families. Though they have an inherent desire to be what their family needs, men are struggling. We know that 31/2 % of families will follow when a child is first to accept Christ; 17% will follow when a mother or wife is first to accept Christ. But when the father or dad is first to accept Christ 93% of his families will follow his leadership. The spiritual health of a man is powerful in the life of his family and inherently in the community. What can I do? Tool Box Ministries works with the pastor and his core group of men, helping equip them to develop sustainable male leadership in their local church. We offer a process (a Tool Box if you will) for pastor and his leadership team to disciple / mentor their men to become spiritual leaders and impact the world they live in. |
